Tao thesis gap sweep
How we got here
Why these 4 shelves
Rule: Tao's thesis must have an international element (Ajarn, meeting 22 Oct): expats, foreigners, Thai people with international experience, or culture as a moderator. Career / JVB welcome.
156 → 8 groups. Every idea read. Left out: 13 review / book / teaching ideas (not a thesis design) and ~27 one-off curiosities (no literature thread). The rest became 8 groups, each with an international hook.
8 scans. One Claude agent per group: review seeds, coverage counts, gaps. Thai share of every field is under 1%. Self-scores did not separate the groups, so we chose on five tests: natural international angle · thin Thai evidence · review papers exist to seed a sweep · not already a Lab shelf · data reachable in ~12 months.
| Group | Decision | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Feedback + 3 360 self-other | Shelf A (merged) | Same theory, Ajarn's strongest stream. Cho 2023 (JAP) found no East Asian modesty bias; Thailand never tested. Lab 360 data may help. |
| 2 Leader identity | Shelf B | No cross-cultural review exists; Thai identity-formation studies ≈ 0. Hook: study abroad. |
| 8 Career | Shelf C | Ajarn named JVB. "Career adaptability AND Thailand" = 0. Hook: expats, why foreign vs Thai staff stay. |
| 4 Followers + 5 Thai norms | Shelf D (merged) | Same mechanism. No review codes culture for implicit leadership or romance of leadership. |
| 6 Online / chat | Dropped | No review exists for the LINE / chat part, so a citation sweep pays little. Better as a direct study. |
| 7 Meaning, passion | Dropped | Lowest score, scattered ideas, no culture × passion review. Equanimity (อุเบกขา) idea kept for later. |
Seeds sharpened. 4 more agents searched each shelf in rounds, learned the field's own words (face, kreng jai, guanxi, modesty), and found newer reviews. 14 seeds each. Generic culture reviews dropped to stop drift.

Screened, kept and found come from each sweep's live log. Culture and Thai tags and the paper lists come from the written record, which can trail. "Kept" = MiniMax M3 judged the abstract on-goal. A draft, not a read paper. Culture / Thai tags are word matches on title + screener reason.
